Cut Pavers and Tile...
WARNING: Always wear safety glasses when cutting pavers or tile!
What You'll Need
Following are several tools that can be used in cutting pavers or tile.
- hammer and chisel
- paver/brick splitter
- wet saw
- tile cutter
What You Do
Tiles
For cutting tiles, you can use either a tile cutter or a wet saw. Using a tile cutter...

With the handle pulled all the way back, place the tile up against the stop, lining it up with the mark where you want to cut the tile. |

Move the handle forward so the cutting wheel is at the bottom edge of the tile. |

While holding the tile firmly with your free hand, apply moderate pressure as you push the handle forward. |

Having scored the tile once, gently squeeze the handle down until the tile snaps on the score line. |
Pavers
For cutting pavers, you can use either a wet saw (recommended) or a paver/brick splitter.
You can also use a hammer and chisel. Score the paver or brick all the way around with a chisel and then strike the score line hard to break it. This also works well if you need to cut off a small portion of a brick or paver.
For more porous bricks or pavers, you can oftentimes split them with a single and forceful strike. (The straight side of the chisel should be facing the part of the brick or paver you want to save and you.)
