Maintain Ceramic Bathroom Tiles for Lasting Beauty
To keep your ceramic bathroom tiles clean and allow them to provide the sterile appearance you desire in your bathroom, simply mopping the bathroom tile with a damp mop daily, or not less than once or twice weekly will clean light dirt easily. The bathroom tiles in the most used bathroom, perhaps the children's bathroom, will probably require daily mopping but since the task only takes a few seconds, it really is easy to do while the children prepare for bed. There is no need to use chemicals which are unfriendly to the environment to obtain clean bathroom tiles.
You'll want to avoid footprints on your ceramic bathroom tiles created when wet feet walk on the tiles after baths or showers. Simply use a plush, thirsty bath mat or rug which is placed beside the bath enclosure when in use so that the bather can step onto the bath mat instead of the tile. Ask children to remain on the bath mat while drying off, including carefully drying their little feet so they learn good body hygiene. After all, wet feet can easily slip on bathroom tile, resulting in a bad fall, so this is an important safety issue as well. The mat can then be hung or draped over the side of the tub to dry.
Because ceramic bathroom tiles can crack or break, avoid dropping heavy or even medium weighted items on the ceramic tile. Of course, you probably have only a few items of this nature in your bathroom, but when moving the bathroom scales, do not drag them and hold them with a firm grip to avoid dropping them on the tile. Something that weighs as much as a scale is heavy enough to crack or chip a tile. Dragging something across the tile can scratch it. It is a good idea to keep several extra tiles when installing or having your tile installed just in case one breaks. That way it can be replaced with by digging out the grout around that tile and laying a new one, then re-grouting around it.
Never apply wax or other products to your ceramic bathroom tiles. These products will soak into the grout and discolor it. This discoloration can be difficult or even impossible to remove resulting in the need to completely re-grout the bathroom tiles.
With these simple maintenance and care steps, you can expect your ceramic bathroom tiles to last for years and years to come. In fact, they will probably outlast the time you live in the home. Bathroom tiles are an investment in a practical flooring solution for every bathroom in your home.
